If I could get Verizon to work alright in Canada for calls and texting then I could get a USB stick for data in Canada.

I will need to find out which carrier Verizon uses for Canada and I probably have to get a better phone since I use an older LG phone that might not get the full coverage area. AT&Ts suggestion was also to buy a phone that is unlocked and get a Canadian pay as you go plan where I could bring my own device and then switch SIM cards. There are several dead spots, but that is t be expected due to the remoteness. The Rogers coverage looks pretty decent in BC and the Yukon. Looks like they have the best coverage in Alaska and use Rogers network in Canada.

They spent over an hour with me and did tons of research. AT&T's customer service was awesome as well at the local store. I recommend the sales person for being honest. Sprint was honest and said they would not be the best choice for Canada and Alaska. Here are some of my findings after talking to Sprint and AT&T yesterday.
